Assistant Professor in Special Education, tenure track
position beginning in August 2010. Candidates should hold an earned
doctorate in Special Education; ABDs will be considered providing they
document a degree completion date. Expertise in Special Education, and a
strong background in the full range of elementary and special curriculum
and assessment is required. Experience in teaching college-level courses
in special education is a requirement.

interest in community programs, public schools, partnerships, and

Childhood Special Education, or a closely related field; ABDs will be
considered providing they document a degree completion date. Individuals
with experience and expertise in early childhood education birth through
age five are especially encouraged to apply.
Candidates for this position should have experience and
interest in community programs, public schools, partnerships, and
collaboration. Experience in teaching college-level courses is a
requirement. Successful candidates must have a solid grounding in both
practice and scholarship. Responsibilities include (a) teaching
undergraduate and graduate courses in early childhood, elementary,
and/or special education; (b) special education, and/or
foundations courses; (b) advising undergraduate and graduate students;
(c) developing and sustaining a program of scholarship; and (d) program
coordination and/or supervision of student teachers.

Preferred qualifications for both positions: familiarity
with INTASC/NCATE standards and accreditation; publications and/or
presentations in areas of elementary or special education, and
experience in instructional technologies (i.e., Live Text and
Blackboard).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: |
Education: Master’s Degree in a field
related to the position requirements. Experience: Six years of
experience in a relevant field preferably in higher education with at
least three years of demonstrated functional responsibilities as a
supervisor; an understanding of the comprehensive community college;
highly developed leadership and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated
competency in computer literacy including Microsoft Excel required.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in the
following areas:

that is responsive and meets the needs of business and industry
through continuing education both credit and non-credit;
·2 Implementation and
facilitation of innovative programming for continuing education and/or
competitive custom corporate training offerings;

Management, Legislative Liaison, and Special Events. The Dean support s

Department of Physical Therapy
The University of Hartford in the College of
Education, Nursing, and Health Professions seeks an Assistant/Associate
Professor for the Department of Physical Therapy. This is a 10-month,
tenure-track position, with a start date of August 2010 or a date to be
mutually agreed upon. Review of applications will commence December 1, 2009
and continue until the position is filled.
Qualifications include completion of an academic
doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, ScD) by date of hire, a strong research
track record with evidence of potential to establish an independent and/or
collaborative research program, and expertise to teach in one or more of the
following areas of study: Gerontology, Exercise Physiology, Motor
Control/Learning, and Scientific Inquiry. In addition, an entry-level degree
in physical therapy with eligibility for licensure in the State of
Connecticut is preferred. Other preferred qualities include demonstration of
success in working with diverse populations of students and clients,
previous teaching experience, and publications in appropriate journals, and
potential to attract external funding. Job responsibilities will include
teaching in one or more of the listed areas of expertise, mentoring student
research, engaging in independent scholarly activity, collaborating with
current physical therapy faculty, student advising, program accreditation
activities, professional service, and curriculum development. Preference
will be given to applicants whose research and teaching expertise is well
aligned with the department and faculty priorities.
The University of Hartford Physical
Therapy Department has implemented a DPT degree program with both freshman
and post-baccalaureate entry into the curriculum.
Co-teaching and collaborative research are common
expectations for members of the faculty. Available for use are three
research laboratories containing an un-weighting treadmill gait system, a
pressure mapping system, and a real-time data acquisition and analysis
system that provides monitoring of 3D motion analysis (passive video and
real-time active marker), 8 channels of EMG, and force platforms, with
simultaneous control of external signaling (e.g., sound, light) to permit
feedback experimentation on human posture, balance, gait and other
activities. Applicants who are not physical therapists will be considered.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
